My MOT man reckons a few changes are coming in next year,
after market HID kits, Chipped ECUs or tuning boxes, seat belt pre tensioners, wiring loom, air bag lights and TPM system .

Tpm one is interesting as many 407s have problems :D

A good example is the malfunction
indicator lamps on the dashboard
that indicate defective electronic
power steering, electronic stability
control and secondary restraint
systems. Testers already check the
dashboard for other lamps, so no
extra time would be required for
this addition to the test.
Electrical wiring and batteries are
now included in the test’s scope,
but testers already check the
vehicle structure where wiring is
secured – often along the same
routes as other testable items,
such as brake pipes in the engine
compartment.Other items – such as headlamp
bulb and unit incompatibility,
headlamp levelling devices and
illegal engine ‘chipping’

They reckon anything fitted as standard should work , so if you have TPM sensors on your wheels they have to work ,

how the hell are they going to check every car for standard equipment then check they work , then check your car isn`t mapped (they can only check that if they have the original map for your car),then check your dpf isn`t hollow ,

i wouldn`t get excited yet the government is screwed they aren`t going to put in new laws that take longer costing everyone more.

Chipping your engine or modding your ECU isn't illegal. I know manufacturers probably wish it was, but it's not...

Aftermarket HIDs on the other hand? Take em all off the road. :thumb:

whats about emmision?
My mot man says that removing a DPF shouldn't make any difference to MOT
unless they sus it is has been removed when it should have one!

He said a 407 with loads of black soot in the tailpipe is a tell tale sign !

If DPF is working it should be clean (Like mine ) :D

Ill be well fooked then. Dpf removed, remapped, LED sides (though i always take them out pre mot), all tyre pressure sensors removed.

Except i wont because theyve got no chance of testing for the most of that withough investing thousands and spending hours checking the car over so nothing to worry about imo.
