Hi each and all, just need to pick someone elses brains about this little problem I have with my 406 HDI (90 ) the car drove like SH*T with the Maff ( Air Flow Meter ) connected, but is sooooooo rapid without it connected, now I did buy a replacement one from fle-bay ( NEW ) but not original, it does work better than the old one but nowhere near as quick as it is with it completely disconnected? does anyone know what is going on here? it is always the same, PERFECT when not connected with the exception of a noisy engine and the engine management light on?

Many thanks in advance

A MAF and an Air Fow Meter are different beasties, though they perform a similar function.

The primary function of the MAF on the olde 2 litre HDi is for emissions purposes. You may be hooning roooond like a Glasweigain kid chasing a deep fried Mars Bar, but it will have a detrimental effect on the amount of guff coming out the exhaust.
