Hi, I have a M-reg pug 306 1.4 manual petrol. I recently took it for a service and told my head gasket had gone. I am after some opinions to validate the garage's claim that my head gasket is indeed on its way out.

The symptoms are that there is oil in the water, however I haven't experienced the usual symptoms i.e loss of power, blue smoke out of back of exhaust and over-heating.

Hope someone can help

Many thanks in advance

Head Gasket

Hi,

Just replaced mine last month on my V plate 306 1.4LX

Not a really big job if you have some idea what you are doing but be prepared as it is not for the faint hearted. Gasket set cost around £50.00 but to be honest I could have gotten away with buying just the head gasket and a manifold gasket. oh and I reccommend a new set of head bolts if you are doing it yourself.

My son is a mechanic which helped no end :)
