Hi all, I'm after a little advice on a warning which I get occasionally. I should probably get the car checked by the dealer, but as that is inconvenient I thought I'd run it past the forum first.

At motorway cruising, normally after I've given the car a bit of welly, occasionally a low oil pressure warning flashes up with a stop message, but only for a second then it disappears. Car drives fine.

Is this something to be concerned about? Or is it normal and something to perhaps mention on the next service?

Car is a GTi 270

This is very important warning, and since car is new there is no other option but dealers garage. However, this is most probably a false alarm, something is wrong with wires or sensors, but should not lean on that - just in case.
So, go to the garage.
BTW, what Diagnostic said?

Thanks for your advice. I'll get it booked in. How do you check the diagnostics? I thought there might be an option in the multimedia, but can't find it!

Seems that it not implemented in every car, but you can try to find it on Driving Assistance/Second screen/Diagnostic.

I've no experience with the newer 308's but if it's anything like the slightly earlier models there is an option to see the warning logs but I wouldn't class that as being a diagnostic'. I really don't see PSA sticking any kind of user accessible diagnostic as it would strip a revenus stream away from the dealer network. My guess would be you can bring a list of previous error messages up but they would be the same as the message you have seen already.

While it may be some kind of false error, it could also be a genuine warning of a real issue and it will be a whole lot more inconvenient losing the car to a dead engine than taking the time to get it diagnosed and resolved.

Spoke to the dealer today, they reckon its probably nothing to worry about, but fair credit to them, I'm booked in to get it looked at and they're letting me have a courtesy car for the day. I'll feedback what they say in a couple of weeks time.

When it comes up again - press the button you use to reset the odometer.
You have to do this before you switch off the engine. If it was a graphic message it will appear here. If it continues you can press it with engine on to check for faults.

The dealer checked the car over today, but unfortunately by the time I picked it up the mechanics had gone home so I don't know the full details. But they did diagnose a fault, which I believe was then fixed by updating some software. So I'm pleased I took everyone's advice to get it looked at. Many thanks.

I had the pleasure of borrowing a 2008 diesel active as a courtesy car. I always like to try different cars but the 2008 isn't one I'd go back to.

It's chalk and cheese from my car and designed with a different buyer in mind so probably unfair for me to criticise, but everything felt squishy...

The seats were too soft and were not supportive, it rolled too much round corners, neither the gearbox nor the steering felt tight. In fact the only thing I liked about the way it drove is that compared to my usual drive it was much better on poor road surfaces and speed bumps. My car really does have a hard ride which won't be for everyone.

I thought the interior was cheeply finished, yes its a step down from the 308 but my wife's 5 year old kia picanto looks like it uses better finished plastics. It doesn't even have any grab handles for any of the passengers. The touchscreen isn't angled towards the driver as it is in the 308 but is positioned so the person who gets the best view is sitting in the back middle seat, why?

On the plus side, I'm sure for people looking for a reasonably spacious car with a small footprint then it may be worth looking at, but its not for me.
