Hi all
I went to the trade center in coventry on the 19 of jan chose a car sorted the finance had the log book put in my name paid a years tax and paid to have my insurance changed they told me they where going to get the key so i could drive it home they came back and told me there was a problem with the car it had a light on the dashboard so they where going to look a it.
they came back and said we think it is the alternator charging intermittently so it would have to stay there over night so they could look into it.
The next day they still couldnt work out what was wrong with it.
On monday they said they where going to send it to a garage the garage plugged it in to there computer and said we think its the alternator charging intermittently but we cant be sure so we are going to send it to a peugeot garage. the peugeot garage said we think it is the alternator but it will have to go through to be confirmed it couldnt be confirmed and they said the master technician was going to have a look.
On the 31st of jan they told me the master technician has had a look and there pretty sure its the alternator
Is this how it works as I thought it would be plugged in and it would bring up an error code that tells them what the problem is
Thanks Reg

Hi ..welcome to the forum....'plugging in' only tells the tech what the problem is ,it's then a case of correct fault finding to eliminate a problem...ie ..low charge warning light..could be slipping belt, loose terminal, bad earth, broken wire. All fault codes need interpreting..its never as easy as you think.
