Thanks,
Is this just a matter of getting new barrel and key,
Or is it a lot more involved,

I will post back when i've found out, the damage..
Is it possible to take the keyfob off and leave the blade in the ignition,
and lock the doors or start it as normal?

yes you can do that , be careful taking off fob , three things inside , battery , circuit board and black transponder , don`t lose transponder :nono:

Thanks guys ,
I think i will go with the barrel from scrap yard idea for now.

Anyone know
Do all 2002 hdi barrels fit the 1.4 or is it specific?

Can't say as i got any warning,
just gave up.
managed to get one via ebay with steering column
(he said it was an easier job putting the whole lot in than just changing the barrel) remains to be seen.
£43 inc delivery.
Which if it works sounds better than 299 plus VAT Mr swollocks lol
