Focal missing

Hello,

I have already read your "Installing sub-woofer in Peugeot 5008 2017+" thread. I'm from Sri Lanka. I just bought a Bran New 5008. I ordered it with the Focal Hi-fi option. The vehicle was imported from Australia. After my vehicle arrived the Focal sound system is not fitted to my vehicle! The Focal sound system was the main thing to me for buying a 5008. After that I asked my dealer about the missing Focal audio system. He said that he can import a original full Focal sound set for me. All I want to know is can I install that system without damaging the electronic system (without chopping the wires etc.) of the vehicle? Specially the sub-woofer. I saw you installed some Focal speakers to you vehicle. Please help me with this.

Thanks.

If I were you I’d demand a refund or swap with the one you ordered :).

Installing the subwoofer is not as easy as we originally thought.

As previously posted, I pressed on with stage 2, to install subwoofer.

This involves removing front seat, center console and carpets.
It turned out to be rather tedious job.

I haven’t finished it yet, but I wanted to post a warning.
The subwoofer enclosure has been moulded to be fitted only under right hand side front seat, regardless whether your car is RHD or LHD.

My car is RHD, I made a mistake undoing front passenger seat, only to find it doesn’t fit.

Furthermore, the carpet plastic basket (floor storage compartment) on 2nd row, has to be cut to allow space that is now occupied by the subwoofer. This is the tedious part, as cutting hard plastic coated with thick styrofoam and foam are messy job.

Perhaps for those who’s going to attempt this, one should try to order the rear row carpet trim that is made for the focal version (not sure how to get the part number of if it’s actually exists).

This is the problem with going into uncharted territory... it's the complete unknown! :(

I've had a more indepth look at it, yes, that bit is different!

Front passenger and driver side carpet / bucket things? 98159319ZD - Errm hope you are sat down for this.... £1024

The rear carpets you cut through... stay sat down.... £524 :nono:

There's also a speaker grill available, that fits somewhere on top: 98189540ZD for a much more reasonable £13.03 :D - that one you should buy

Thanks for your quick reply. Did you mean fitting the sound system is impossible? 😥😥😥
It's not impossible.... but to be completely manufacturer standard, it's not just the subwoofer / speakers / amplifier / headunit.

It's also door glass, door looms, dashboard wiring looms, main body loom, carpets, sound deadening, door cards.... you would be looking at a bill in excess £5000 British Pounds. That is parts only!!

Make the dealer take it back, there's absolutely NO chance they will fit it all in and you will NOT be able to do it either. You would need to take the ENTIRE interior out to do it properly.

It's why if the option is available in your country, I always suggest you pay for it, the amount of kit you get for the money is really, really good!

I’m planning to install the aftermarket amp in the small floor compartment of the 2nd row.

It’s a perfect size :)

Hi, experinker

very good job and instruction on how to replace original speakers!
How do you plan to pass a wire thru the firewall to the battery ?
Did you find some free hole for pass the wire ?

The bass unit arrived today! That was a lot quicker than I expected.
As promised here are the photos <img src="http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />

How do I request mods of this
forum to allow me uploading photos in high res?

Hello, any news with the subwoofer installation?, any pics? Thanks in advance

Obviously, wife permitting as I have spent too many weekends lurking in the garage <img src="http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Wink" class="inlineimg" />.
How much time did you spend to do just front and back speakers?

Final result of door speaker replacement :D

Very happy with the significant improvement of sound all across the range.

Hello!

Trying to do some sound upgrade and stumbled upon your post, installing those neat Focal PS 165F speakers. The problem is, behind stock speaker there is a guide rail for driver/passenger window and distance to this rail is quite small. I measured it to be like 5-6cm while stated depth of those focal speaker is greater than 6cm.

sooo... how did you managed to install those speakers? was there a problem with window opening?

Hi people, very interesting post, super detailed!
I've just got my new 5008 (10 days ago): once left the car dealer, I switched on the NAC and ?:poop:
I absolutely need to put my hands on the car and remove everything.
After having read all these posts, I've quite clear ideas on the DIY side and just focus on what I'd like to mount.
I just need some more help from you: which is the tweeter diameter I should buy for being sure it fits?
But, most of all, I'd like to know (talking about the amp) where I could find a hole for passing the power cable from the battery through the firewall: is there any hole hidden behind the gear tunnel? And where could I find a useful ground point for connecting the negative cable?
I'll be back soon with my choice of components, in order to get suggestions: in particular, I'm pretty sure about the woofer but I need ideas for a good tweeter couple.
Thank you

Focal's TNF fits like a glove. Larger ones - with some mods. For example one of my friends istalled Hertz MP 25.3, it required tweeter disassembly and some mods.

Also take notice that window rail in doors is major tain in the ass. I'm still not sure how experinker was able to fit focal fx speaker there.

Do you think there's some space in order to install a "thin" adapter ring and lift up a bit the woofer? I was thinking about a DIY ring made with MDF, something like 5mm but I'm not sure this would allow me to put in place again the door panel w/o damaginge the speaker.

Which woofer did you (or are you trying to) install? the one from the Focal 165F kit? or anything else?

At the very beginning, I tried to install the following:
TW ESX - VE 6.2T MKII
WF Silence Lab WFN165
but I abandoned those components, too many mods needed: tw is too big and the risk was to damage te fixing points of the origina plastic triangle, and wf basket was too large meaning that I should have hardly modified the original speaker ring: this is a pity because that wf is very performing and very thin, giving no problems at all with the window glass

So initially workshop that was working on soundproofing offered to install BLAM 165 RSQ but once they seen glass location and rail they refused to take risks and i started to look at other 3008 owners experience. So i stumbled on this forum and also some asian facebook post with Focal Utopia install but it is just too expansive for me.

Then i've met 3008 owner from local area who introduced me to different workshop and shown me their install. They used thin rings to fit Hertz MPK 165.3 Pro using rather small radius of magnet to go slightly beyond rail but not as far to touch the glass. Unfortunately i don't have photos of their installation process but i myself would most likely stick to this idea, unless i'll be able to afford something like Utopia M :)

I'll try to reopen the door panel and check: I've the impression that front doors are quite different between 3008 and my 5008; probably mine are longer and the window rail would be positioned in a different way, otherwise I couldn't explain how Experienker was able to install a so deep woofer, Focal PS165F has a mounting depth of more than 7 cm
Unfortunately when I opened the panel the first time, to "investigate", I forgot to check the depth space with the window opened: I already own a 2-way system and when I saw It needed to adapt too much, I abandoned the idea, closed the door and started searching for new components on the inernet. I found those Silence Lab wf, the are intended for difficult installation very low profile (less than 5 cm needed) but the basket is absolutely too large to fit in the original speaker ring.
At the moment I found a very cheap (used) PS165F kit and I think I'll go to the vendor with the panel unmounted in order to verify if it really fits.
I'll keep you updated
Do you know which is exactly the internal diameter of the original speaker ring by Peugeot?

didn't take any precise measurements, but 165mm will fit. As for difference between 5008 and 3008 front doors, unfortunately Peugeot now charges subscription fee to see their parts catalog so i cant compare.

I know that 165mm will fit , that’s the official external speaker diameter
What’s blocking is the real basket diameter, exactly below the 165 mm fixing ring: silence lab has a diameter of 147, focal has 142 so can enter into the black ring without any adaption .
Stated that, my last problem is understanding if I have sufficient depth too, or if I have room to install a ring adapter and lift up the speaker a bit

Also Focal just released their updated flax series kits, and now they have specal shallow mount woofer with neodymium motor. Unfortunately those WFs have not such deep base and aren't so loud judging from their tech spec and now reviews available for now. Also and i'm not sure about their new tweeters, considering awful reputation of their K2 M-shaped tweeters...
