Sorry for the newbie question.

Changed the battery in one of the key remotes and now it will lock and unlock the car remotely, but when I put the key in the ignition and turn it on I get an Immobiliser Fault message on the dash - and obviously it won't start.

Other key works fine.

I'm guessing the key needs re-programming in some way. Does this need to be a Peugeot dealer or can any diagnostic equipped garage do it? Any idea on likely cost?

No reprogramming is needed. The immobiliser system is independent of the battery in the fob. As Monty said, the immobiliser chip (a little black thing clipped to the lower shell) has probably gone astray. If you can't find it, the bad news is that you need a complete new key (a used key is useless so don't be tempted by EBay listings for 2nd hand keys) and that will have to be programmed, which will need the 4 digit code which is on the security card supplied with the car.
