As the title suggest my 57 plate 207hdi ignition switch won't move. It was fine no signs of stiffness then nothing can't move it. Any thoughts. I have soaked in WD-40.

Hi....try and rock the steering wheel and turn the key ...sometimes the lock wont return if the front wheels are at an angle and the steering column is under tension

If rocking the steering wheel doesn't work, try spraying the lock with a bit of WD 40. Sometimes the wafers get stuck aswell

207 uses same barrel as 307 and they do this its time to buy a replacement barrel !!

If you can get it free then it is easy to replace if you cant you will have a bit of a fight but if you do go for a used replacement you must retain the electronics from your original key and fit them to the replacement or it wont start.

Yes I know the key has a code for the immobiliser. I have seen second hand key sets on eBay they will work then? I thought it might be a new ECU time

there are 2 codes, one for the key pattern and one to unlock the ecu.

a good locksmith can get your code off your old key for the pattern.

and you can just tape old key up near the barrel for testing.

dont spend loads, just a key to open door so you can test first, wouldnt want to spend loads just to find the barrels duff.

No need for any new keys he just needs a used working ignition barrel with key fit that transfer the circuit board into replacement key and just keep old key for door locks and petrol cap.

Or a full lockset if you really want a matching key but no ecu change needed as long as you keep original board from your key and transfer to replacement you can even just swap the blades in the flip case plenty options.

Okay I'll get the cowl off later and spraying some more. Saw door locks and ignition barrel for 50 on eBay

ok so mabey i am missing something, mabey the barrel comes out easy.

its just last time i did this job on a ford you had to turn the ignition to position 1 to release the barrel, of course not possible with a broken barrel so ended up drilling it out....took hours and made a right mess.

then drove car with a screwdriver in the rear switch with key taped to the ring, after disabling the steering lock...just while waiting for new ebay barrel.
