Recently my clock stopped went full DIM, thought the 4 bulbs caused the problem, but figured I was horribly wrong. It seems like the connector on the back has gone loose and I need to hold it upwards with my fingers to get it working, most likely that black plastic cover that holds it in place cut on one of
the sides. Do I need to completely take off the connector and get a replacement?

Btw, something that I can never understand with 206's display is the fact it goes very dark when turning the lights on, luckly that doesn't apply for the dash
because I've got one of those buttons, but not the other one for the clock.

Anyone else had this sort of problem, already replaced all of those bulbs on the back. Need suggestions for the connector.

There is more than 1 type of clock/display unit for a 99 206 if it has 4 bulbs in from the top and a pair of metal rails the bulbs fit into it will be what people insist on calling a PPT40 type display and they are prone to bad connections internally.

Its NOT really called a PPT40 that refers to the plastic its made from !!

It does have 4 bulbs and a rail connected to it, but that's not where my problem stands, it's the plastic connector. I have to hold it with my hand in a specific way to get the clock to work, the pin connector. Another thing I've noticed, only 3 bulbs work, 4th, one closer to the right middle, I haven't noticed, but it's actually not doing anything in particular, had to switch the bulbs around to get
it all working. Now the only problems I have are the PIN connector and the brightness of the display, I literally can't see anything in daylight. Thought something was fried but that's not the case. I guess it's just the display itself? Or maybe I might be mistaking? My model doesn't come with the DIMMER (if that's the correct name for the brightness adjuster).

Someone gave me advice to spray some WD40 on that particular part, but that'd be madness for the electronics. You got any ideas how I could get that PIN connector fixed up without having to buy that extra part from a mechanic or a local junkyard, it won't go cheap in my case. I doubt duck tape would do anything.

I looked up online and I'd say my model is Jaeger MFD Clock Radio Display 4 Bulb PPT30.

It's a bit more flat than the PPT40, it is pixelated though, but it's def. PPT30.

PPT 30 PPT 40 etc are NOT the names of the parts :)

If it has 4 bulbs its what people call a ppt30 it is made be jaeger

PPT40 have 3 bulbs and are fitted to later models

But that is irrelevant anyway your problems are down to bad solder joints on the main board its not the plug on the car its the pins in the display and its working when you mess with the plug as it then gets a connection you need either a replacement or send your own to be repaired i have some here but not got the parts to repair them just now

You are indeed very correct about the part with the ME (Mother Board) issue. As I was messing around with it, decided ti dismount it, and found out there's actually something that was on the board like a plastic connector with 3 pins next to the big one. It got ripped straight from the motherboard, 2 stuck in it and one is hanging freely on the mother board itself, the rest of the display seems to work. When I put all of those 3 together display works just fine, so I really do need to get a local elec. mech. to check it out, or I could just weld it myself :/ but not sure about the outcome. Prolly best to give it to a mech.

So I got the display fixed by removing the pin completely, some paste and a solder with 2 wires connected to the front panel with the bulbs. But even when I got it fixed, it's still faded out. Could it be a circuit between the lights and the display. Both, the speedometer and the clock display are DIM, I literally can't see the miles nor temperature reading on the clock if the sun's bright. The clock works really good when the lights on the car are off, but the moment I switch the lights on it goes full DIM, as much as I know it's common for 206, but not as much as to kill the thing. I did try the dimmer but it only works on the dash not on the clock itself. Any suggestions?

That small plastic clip you see on the back it holds the plug inside.

See that big black connector?
The thing that probably chipped of, if black is that clip that holds that big connector in place. It snapped for me too, but try pushing it in and see if it fits in place. Worked for me back then. And didn't have problems with it after. As far as the DIM goes, it's just like that, hahahaha.

I tried to recreate it for you in paint, try to see if this helps better: VIEW THE IMAGE IN FULLSIZE!
