Missing this part and all I know about it is it is on the passenger side of the engine and all the oil I pour into the car leaks out of it straight away

No idea the wife brought it as a cheap run around vehicle, would anything else be wrong if it isn't refitted?
Yeah, the oil that comes out won't stop and engines like oil in them, that comes to mind, and it might actually be needed by said engine as well. You can see the gasket there for something ?

I have a 307 with the 1.6l TUP5JP4 engine and it nothing like that. I think you must have the 2.0 litre 16V 143PS petrol engine (EW10A). If you want to PM your VIN I can confirm the engine type but everything I looked at suggests the engine is a 2l 143PS (EW10A) petrol engine.
I am fairly sure that connection is not used on your engine. The original 307 with a EW10J4 2l engine had a pulse air pump as part of the anti-pollution equipment. I can't find any mention of it on the engines used in post 2005 (Facelift version) 307. I have attached a parts list which shows the pulse air system used on the original 307 with the 2l 140PS engine (EW10J4).
The 206 used a similar system but a 206 with the EW10J4 I looked at here in Australia didn't have a pulse air pump. I suspect it may never have been fitted to cars sold in Australia. All it did was put extra air into the exhaust while the engine was cold.
I have attached the coolant outlet parts list which shows that part of the cylinder head and the gasket. I can't find anything in Peugeot Service Box that show a connection to that point. I have also attached the procedure to remove and refit the coolant housing and it mentions the gasket but there is no mention of removing a part in that position to fit the new gasket.

I have been told on another forum that it could be the rocker cover casket would that sound about right?

If you are looking for a source of an oil leak it is possible the leak is coming from above that point from a leaking rocker cover gasket. You should be able to see it.

I think the attached parts list covers the rocker covers for your car. It looks like the cover and gasket (item 14) for the front cover came as a pair if you bought them from Peugeot.
Rocker cover gaskets on the EW10 engines will wear sand that's a common problem some people fixed them with silicon but they will start to leak again after a while , if you are sure that roker cover gaskets are worn so you need to buy new ones from AliExpress , i bought a pair with a good price
