I don't know if it's common, or even if it is a problem/fault at all.

When I go over 30-40 and although the climate control is set to off, I get very hot air from the vents. I turn it on, lower the temp to the minimum, and then it stops.

Next time I'm on the road it's the same again.

Any suggestions?

Could be the heater flap routing some air to the cabin from the heater (not shutting off the heater matrix air fully). If climate is turned off airflow at 30 mph will push air into the car without fans running.
If the climate control is on, the the air con will overcome this heat using fans so you won't feel it.
If it's full climate control check the heater control flap moves when commanded to open and shut fully or a stripped gear on its electric actuator, if it's stuck the aircon will overcome it but might not feel as cold

I had something like this when I got mine (also climate control). I think what I did was to switch the aircon off (so the panel shows Economy Mode), thne lowered the temperature setting to something like 14, and then switched to OFF. After that, I always switch ON before pressing Aircon, and switch aircon off before pressing OFF, and it seems to behave itself.

Thanks for info, but how to check? Do I need to dismantle the whole thing? Or is there an easy way to check?

It's what I do, but point point is, not to do that, it should somehow reset(??) itself, especially when you press the OFF button to shut it down.
