One of my heater control bulbs needs replacing and I cannot get the unit out the centre console at all . I've removed the side trim. Removed the 4 screws and pulled out the lock buttons at the bottom aswell as removing the single din shelf above the heaters.

The heater into only moves inwards, no way to pull it out as the two clips prevent it going outwards.

Any help please.

What a stupid design just to replace a bulb ?

I recently had a similar problem after the rotary temperature control jammed. Like you, I battled for hours (?!) without success, and finally decided to remove the whole heater control unit. After removing the trim and fixing screws, I removed the switch panel beneath the heater control unit, and then the storage shelf above it. Then I disconnected the radio and took that out too! This gave me a bit more room to unclip the three control cables and unplug the two multi-connectors. This allowed enough room to push everything out of the way to twist and lower the unit out. It was still a bit of a fiddle to get the bulb holders out, and finally I found the rotary control was jammed by a spent bulb rattling around inside - obviously dropped in when it was being replaced. Aaaargh!
Replacing the unit wasn't too bad - fortunately the cables have different colours and connectors so you can't get them mixed up, although they require a bit of brute force with a screwdriver to get them closed!

Note! As I was expecting to need a complete replacement unit, I had bought one off Ebay for a few pounds . . . . it still had the ends of the control cables and the wires attached so I could practice clipping and unclipping them! Also photos of the units for sale are very helpful too!
I hope all of this will make it a bit easier for others. Good luck.
