Head unit/ stereo installing problem! Peugeot 307

Working from memory - IIRC there are two different styles depending on year and I think the later style might fit your car's plug (OK, quick eBay search... maybe this)
(the older is ISO to ISO just rearranging some wires and isolating the car's CAN-bus wires from the HU Like this)

I thought as much that was all I needed to do, but for some odd reason, there's part of me that thinks the adaptor won't fit directly into the connection in my car (see pics).

Does any of it need rewiring/pins need moving? Or is it simply connect into what's there.

You buy an adapter cable that fits the connectors on your stereo and has the plug that mates with the one in the loom.

The majority of adapter cables have the switched live cable in the wrong place so the radio doesn't switch off with the ignition. The switched live actually connect to a live which is controlled by the BSI and stays on untill the BSI goes into sleep mode, around 40 seconds or more. The wire in the adapter plug just needs moving to the free space next to it (need to check with a multimeter which one is the real switched live). A decent (read expensive) cable for the car will usualy be wired up correctly though. You will likely need an adapter for the aerial lead as well.

Or you could buy a used RD4 from ebay which is plug n play and will allow you to change the time and date on the MFD as well as change any of the other settings accessed on the MFD.

Can't speak to the knowledge of the people there, but they list a phone number to call if uncertain. Hopefully they could positively say that Yes, this adapter fits the 307 from date x to date y - and be willing to take it back, on their dime, should it turn out to not be the case. Or try to locate a shop local to you that carry them and have a look/compare in person.

This should give you all your canbus features back including reverse sensor beeps through your speakers, computer controls and stalk controls. They do a cheaper one if you want just stalk controls or if you not bothered about getting back any of the toys then the basic connector as previously posted will be fine.

I have a 2008 model and this is OK for me. Just check your loom and see what connector you have if you need any further patch lead for your stereo brand for stalk controls (if applicable)
