antifreeze

is it a 1.4tu in a 207 by any chance?
no its not normal. were you loosing antifreeze? looks like head gasket leaking at cylinders 2/3.
Are you changing it for an usual oil leak at the front?
check the heads flat and give it a good clean.
ensure you have a some liner protrusion in the block, you can Measure this with a steel rule and feeler gauges accurately enough. i think you need over 10 thou.

Liner protrusion? What's that? And no I've taken it apart cos it was burning oil really bad out the back end and done a compression test and led me to piston rings so in the process of doing that. Just having a go nyaelf. 1st time bare with me. Do I have to get the anti freeze out from the side of the pistons?

And no I wasn't losing antifreeze but the thermostat was broken so I imagine no anti freeze was getting let into the engine and it was just the same stuff going round

I dare say a little coolant was spilled into the cylinder when the head was removed. However if the thermostat was stuck closed and the engine overheated it might have caused a blown head gasket.
