Hi. New member! I wonder if:
1 Anyone can point me in the direction of the source of a 2008 4007 user handbook2?
2 Anyone has experience of installing an aux input for mp3 player and if so what was involved and how you went about it?

Thanks in advance!

The most handsome fellows with the most active sex lives drive the SE.

Alas, the SE' s head unit is a nice enough sound, but is quite basic and can't ( to my knowledge) activated to accept an aux in. You'd need the HU from the GT.

It's great to have another 4007 owner on here. There is a specific Citroen Cross-Dresser/4007 website, but it's pretty much moribund and the owners been trying to sell it for a while, and I think will close it soon, so this here awesome forum is the place for 4007 owners to be.

Yours is an earlier model. The underbody protection is shockingly poor so while the weather is nice I'd recommend you get under there with some Dynax UB. Aside from that they're pretty robust and reliable if cared for and run up to big mileage while still feeling fresh and lively.

Thanks chopper1192. Definitely agree with you about us handsome fellows with the sex drive. Thanks as well for the input on the aux. I will investigate with a car audio specialist and report back here. Also for input on the underbody and other points too. Yep the 4007 is definitely a decent old bus, a bit of an ugly duckling and definitely an all-round compromise, but who cares as it ticks so many boxes? Cheers, Steve

Roger that bro. It's a superb all rounder with a huge dollop of all weather capability chucked in, and if it didn't look quite so much like Barry Manilow they'd have sold twice as many. In terms of ability and reliability there the best all round pug of modern times.

Please update us with any news 're the HU. Our knowledge base in the 4007 is quite small, not helped by them being so bloody reliable, so any new info, no matter, will be soaked up by the Chopper knowledge banks to help members in the future.

Aux in

So I've drawn a blank on the existence of a specially-designed kit to retrofit aux-in into the standard 2008 4007 stereo head unit. Also, the wiring which was supposed to exist (hidden under the armrest) to which aux-in could be wired, isn't there on 2008 models (Mitsu tell me it is present in 2009 onwards only).

So I'm going for a generic wired FM modulator (cost about £30, installation costs dependent on whether I can do it myself!). For those unaware, these aren't the little devices which clip onto your ipod and allow you tune it into an FM channel (too unreliable for me), but rather a box which does a similar (and supposedly much more reliable) job on a wired basis. The box sits between the FM aerial and the stereo head unit. It still involves tuning to an available FM channel, which I guess are fewer and further between these days, but I do have confidence in the solution as I've seen it working in another car.

Comments welcome. Will keep you posted.

Even the base head unit plays MP 3 CDs, and you can easily fit 12-15 albums on a disc, so why bother?

Yep I take your point and that's a reasonable fallback but I'm going to try to get ipod connectivity working effectively first, because I've got playlists set up and it just gives more flexibility and simplicity.

But I'm not going to go for a fully-integrated system where you get control of the ipod from the head unit because that would require a bit of an overhaul and it's not that important so I can't justify the expense.

I'll post if I can get the wired modulator working (or not) and say how effective it is.
