So I took delivery of my 308 Gt premium 1.6 hybrid 225 back in July and the Range on the battery when fully charged was approximately 30-34 miles which was as expected.
Now the last three times I’ve charged it it’s been registering 21 miles range fully charged. This hasn’t happened over night I might add.
The range has slowly come down since receiving it so I figure it isn’t something damaged all of a sudden to make this happen, and I understand that as the months get colder the range would suffer but I didn’t think it would decline to this low range so much. Also I’ve changed nothing as regards my driving style etc,
I understand this is a new model and all but does anybody have the same issues with their range suffering or does anyone know if this is to be expected. I have it booked in at my local dealership but it’s 3 weeks until they can take a look.
If anyone can give me any advice or explain if I’m doing something wrong it’d be much appreciated 👍

It seems to calulate range wrong, if i drive in hybrid mode range is dropping but i can drive more than range is alltime. I just don't understand how it cant calculate range, in electric mode range is better? and it seems to calculate it right

Also don't forget that the cold weather has an impact on battery performance, giving lower miles than in the summer time.

We purchased 2 x new 308 hybrids, and have been having exactly the same problem since Day 1 with both cars, which includes the hot summer weather so low temperatures cannot be a factor - in fact, that is probably the only excuse we haven't heard yet. One of the cars is down to 28 miles full State of Charge (SOC) (from 37 at delivery) and the other down to 26 miles full SOC (from 34 at delivery). On top of that, they are not providing the full mileage as per the SOC, and this varies from charge to charge - on one occasion I went from 14 miles SOC to 0 after 1 mile of driving. We are being fobbed off with irrational excuses concerning "intelligent battery systems" and "driving styles" but I'm not buying them, and despite numerous written requests for a technical document we have been provided with nothing. I have made my final (fourth) request for technical documentation but am not hopeful. I massively regret being taken in by the hype and buying these hybrid cars, and wish I had stuck with fossil fuel - the electric technology is not ready! A work colleague's partner has a hybrid from a different manufacturer and is experiencing even worse problems, and my colleague has been told by his (high end) car's dealer to stay away from hybrids for now.

Yeah I really understand your thoughts on this Hybrid hype.. My 308 is down to 19 miles to a full charge now, it’s been slowly decreasing since day one and my driving style and journey has not changed since receiving the vehicle so I can’t understand what’s going on and Peugeot themselves don’t seem to have the answer.

I'm keeping photographic records of full SOC and mileage plus 0 SOC and mileage. I can't hold Peugeot responsible for the increase in domestic electricity charges but even with our new rates we should be running at roughly 60% of the cost of unleaded.....but with the mileage we're getting, it is more expensive to run the car in electric/hybrid mode. We'll suck it up for the time being so we can maintain our records, but there will come a point when enough is enough.

Sorry to read about the issues you guys are facing regarding the mild hybrids. Makes me glad I chose to go with the non hybrid. Something needs to be done to help you guys out, as it seems the car is not fit for purpose due to duff hybrid battery issue.

On past experience - 4 years of our 3008 hybrid - we had a similar range.

Winter/cold weather and less daylight drains the battery and the range average diminishes. Only in summertime would we see 36-37 miles.

And that was after 13 - yes 13 - software updates since at one stage we were seeing 16 mile fully charged.

Also I had noticed range average depletes if you accelerate hard at all. In electric you really do have to take it easy if you want good range.

Remember the range is an average of your driving style and what ancillaries the car is using in the last few journeys. For example Aircon, lights, heating. We have a 1.5-2 miles hill near where I live and if I drive up it, at least 5 miles comes off our electric range.

I know our local dealership now warns customers that real values and wltp values are totally different.

Thanks for the reply…
Yeah, after a few months of getting to grips with how things work regarding battery range I’ve realised cold weather doesn’t help also keeping the heater below 20c helps anything above that hammers your range, keeping also hard driving doesn’t help like you said feathering the throttle helps range.
Also the range that is displayed after a full charge is calibrated by the software apparently from the previous use and drive since the last charge..if that makes sense?🤔(Thats according to Peugeot mechanic).
I’ve also noticed that even though it may charge to say 15miles of charge depending on how you drive you can get a little more out of it if you drive economically but either way it’s unnerving when you expect to get 30+miles of a full charge and you only get a display of 13miles.
After using the car for a while I’ve got to realise that what the display shows after a full charge isn’t always what it seems, weather it’s a software thing I don’t know.
The best I’ve gotten in the summer was 36miles of a charge which is roughly what I expected so roll on summertime 😁

Ours are now down to 13 miles and 9 miles for a full 'state of charge', and nothing we can do improves them. Both cars are driving at low speed, and very carefully. The varying levels of nonsense that comes out of Peugeot varies from 'unbelievable' to 'complete and utter bo**!'. One piece of 'technical advice' was that, in cold weather the cars need to be 'pre-conditioned', as per the non-existent 'user instructions', before driving off. So, I selected 'pre-condition' and watched 4 miles drain off the state of charge before the car was ready to drive off. Let's face facts - they have absolutely no idea what these cars are capable of and are "making it up as they go along".
I will post the Motor Ombudsman's verdict here when received.

Yeah Taff I have to agree, whenever Ive ask Peugeot they’ve given me totally different advice, I think the whole hybrid push with cars these days is pish…
I’ve just learned to live with it and charge it for free whenever u can even if I go to relatives for a brew I plug it in😂…
The annoying thing is I really like the car, it’s just.. the people at my local Peugeot don’t seem to understand the whole Hybrid software calibration themselves 🤦🏻‍♂️ so how can they advise me.
Last month it went in as condensation built up in the exhaust back box and apparently froze with the -5c weather we had the car just shut down and wouldn’t start, so they literally drilled a hole and put a drain hose on so it doesn’t freeze and shut down the car as it did.
Just frustrating sometimes, can’t believe little things like this aren’t sorted out before it goes on the showroom floor. So far none of the problems have been my fault so they’ve resolved them pretty quick. I will say one thing, the staff at my local Peugeot are happy to help and polite. I’ve had Citroen in the past and the staff there were horrendous. Every time I went in with an issue it was a battle to anything out of them.
(Sorry to Citroen fans, things may be different now😬)
I try not to think about it to much apart from when I’m driving in sport mode I feel I’m just carrying around a giant battery that dosent really do anything but add weight to the car🤦🏻‍♂️.
If issues do start popping up or get any worse then it’s going back in to Peugeot until things are sorted.. as I say it would be unfortunate as I do like the car.
