A friends 107 started leaking oil from the bell housing, took to garage and was told the oil seal behind the clutch has failed. Was told gearbox needs to be stripped as seal fitted from in side box, and would be £400 just to fix box ,without labour for removing and refitting plus new clutch.Does that sound right,is this a common problem? the car has done 55,000 miles and 2010 year.

I can't comment if this is a common problem but if the price is to remove the gearbox, replace the seal, supply & fit a clutch kit and refit the gearbox... then yes seems ok to me.

My local garage charged £150 just to swap the gearbox on my 307 and that's without a clutch and gearbox repair.
