Hi all,

Well, i have had the engine issue diagnosed as 2 bent valves so have decided to get out of the car and have been offered £1500 by a local breaker. trouble i have is that I have broken the vacuum hose that comes off the vacuum pump on the top of the engine and now the car is showing a gearbox fault. it is my understanding that the gearbox uses the vacuum. is this correct and would the pipe between the pump and the first t piece being broken be the cause of this error. The car was fine when pulled onto the drive. if this is the case then are their any specialist tools required to replace this and byt any chance does anyone know the part number i am after?

1.6 HDI with bent valves sounds unlikely

Dont think the gearboxes have any vacuum feeds older autos used vacuum but not modern ones and none of the silly flappy paddle ones i have seen need vac feeds

Hi, thanks for the response. it is definitely stuck or bent valves. i know how rare this is but this is the luck i have currently with my motors.

I spoke to a guy at peugeot today who says there is a vacuum feed to the gearbox, but none of the listed parts seems to be a match for mine. the vacuum pipe from the mechanical pump on the engine is about 6 inches long and goes in to a plastic(i think) T piece that then goes off to the brakes and gearbox. it is the short piece and the attachment clip i need?!?!

Just a bump and another bit of advice... Still haven't found the correct vacuum hose, even from Peugeot, having a nightmare... Have realised though that battery is a little low, would this potentially cause the gearbox to throw an error and not go in to gear? Really don't get this as during the works I have not touched anything on the gearbox at all... I do have an injector leaking diesel still but this is those damn burned out valves
