Hi guys,
After 2 weeks of owning I'm loving the drive, the features....and the fuel return.
One question I do have is on gearchange. I've noticed at junction, pull away etc, going from 1st to second when the gear is meshing in second it's not quiet as smooth/quiet as all other gears.
I don't know if this is a trait or something anyone else has noticed?
Don't get me wrong it's still smooth, just not as refined as all other gears.

Yes have the same problem, and had the car 7 weeks and done just over a thousand miles. Will mention it on Saturday as it's going in for it check.

Strangely enough I had this exact same problem with my Peugeot 4007, second gear always felt a bit clunky.

I'm booked in to collect my 3008 on Tuesday which has a manual gearbox so I'll let you know how it compares to the 4007.

I have no idea if they both use the same gearbox, possibly.

I had a similar experience with my first 2.0l manual Ford Focus but the second one I had didn't have this problem. Typically, when I took the car for a service and reported the problem they said they hadn't noticed anything when they went for a test drive. Whilst annoying it didn't affect the performance of the car so I lived with it.

No, it doesn't affect its performance but you should be able to change gears without a jolt. It only has a check up this Saturday but will still mention it. There must be a reason for it? as it's a first for me! This is our fourth Peugeot and they were fine. The 308 gearbox was lovely, the two years old 3008 was good, this is a different gearbox altogether or it has problems already.

My Focus gear change wasn't a jolt, it just seemed not as comfortable as the other gears. It sounds as though you have more of a problem Jill.
I think so! I've driven quite a few other make of car too. I keep trying but nothing is working. Will see what happens Saturday, should be having mud flaps fitted if they are in. Doubt they would have time to look at my problem as they only work half a day.

Well maybe the word jolt is a little harsh? But all other gears are fine! this is only a pulling away one. I suppose I could ask if there was any adjustment? clutch/gearbox? I'm not a mechanic. :D

Confirmed from garage that they agree 1-2 gear "notchy" recommended running 1-2000 miles (it's done just over 1,095) to bed in, if no improvement then to book for further investigation. Have this in writing and dated.

Hi Jill
Thanks for that. What were their thoughts?
Mine seems similar. 1st and second are (but only on occasiins) a bit sticky/ clunky. Noticed it when turning right into second. But as I say not always:/

All other gears are fine now, but 1-2 not, really can't understand why that would need longer mileage to settle? I would get yours checked, if they agree you will have something in writing! Failing that could be classed as wear and tear? hope not but would not trust them.

As with others the change up from 1st to 2nd is a bit clunky , but when taking my time with the gear change it is ok , booked in on Friday for software sat nav etc and will mention it to the service manager

Yep, same here. Synchronization between 1st and 2nd is not smooth always. Sometimes I can even feel and hear a sound when changing. I think the reverse is not smooth either.

My previous VW gearbox was much nicer, I have to say. Will complain about this in the service, but I do not expect anything to change...
