Hi,
I had a fuel filler cap not locked warning recently - It came on everytime I drove the car and indeed it wasnt locked. The car then stopped telling me this fact but then said depollution system faulty. I phoned a Pug specialist who is local and he suggested that the repeated reported fault meant that the sytem would "lock" and that was why I was getting the Depollution faulty. He also said that the fuel cpa lock problem was common.

My questions are:
1. Is the advice from the garage reasonable?
2. How much would it be for a new sensor supplied and or fitted?
3. Is it difficult to change the sensor myself?
4. Would driving the car in its current state going to cause any long term problems?

Thanks in advance!
Mat

I would imagine that the cap sensor is faulty, which when it is it prevents the diesel additive being dosed into the tank. Over time, without dosing you will start to get DPF problems, hence the de-pollution system faulty. I would imagine in this case that a new sensor sooner rather than later will help, else if the DPF gets continually blocked you will end up having no end of problems and big bills!
