It's my first time on here, tried every other way I could think of (bar taking my van to a mechanic) to get to the bottom of this!

I have a 2004 partner 1.9 diesel, when I bought it it had been stood for over a year, it's been a great van however ever since I bought it, the fuel gauge steadily goes from full to 1/4 tank, then judders for half a mile and finally cuts out.

I've put up with it and just kept it above 1/4 full for two years now but I am so frustrated that I don't know the problem. I'm fairly sure there is something in the tank when it cuts out because to brim it from there costs about £60 which works out at about 45 litres... The tank capacity is listed as 60 litres.

Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Josh.

I take it it runs normally, till it is down to 1/4 tank,

could the pump be the prob in the tank, not sitting in right place or too high

Yeah it runs fine, and the fuel filter has never had any build up on it either which I suppose rules out my first absent minded theory that there must be loads of sediment in the tank!

That would tick all the boxes, I'll wait till I've used up what's in the tank now and have a look, thanks for your help!

Can you access the fuel pump from inside or is it a tank off job?
