HI all
Ive got a 407 with a broken coil spring on the front..
Anybody had experience of changing these...
Looks like the whole double arm suspension set up has to be removed before seperating the shock from it????
Any hints or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Getting the strut out is not that difficult as long as the sideshaft is not frozen in the hub. If you have a sideshaft press, then easy peasy, even on a gravel driveway... :p

I think the video makes it look more difficult than it actually is, probably to scare off home repairers and drum up business..

Hi, Thanks for that... Not as bad as i thought..I've done plenty of driveshafts and the claw shaped bottom joints etc on these but never taken a strut off. I thought you might have to drop the whole unit out...That's my job for tomorrow....Wish me luck

Well the day is over... The job is done.
Getting the shock off wasn't to bad.Changing the spring was straight forward. The hardest part was removing the wiper arm so i could remove the scuttle panal to gain access to the top mounting bolts..
On reassembly the hardest part was getting the lower shock mount lined up so you could put the anti roll bar link bolt through to secure it...
While i had it apart i put a new bottom ball joint on as it was a bit rough running and had lots of rusty residue around it..Saves a future job.
In all on the floor just useing a jack n stands it all took about 4 hrs which i didnt think was too bad.
