I have had the problem with the ESP that seems to be mentioned elsewhere on the forum: the ESP system goes off with a X on the ESP sign. Normally this coincides with the cruiser going dysfunctional at the same time. They come back to normal when the car is started again the next time. So this has happened occasionally for over a year and hasn't disturbed me much.

Now - and of course just when we are starting our holiday trip abroad - the problem seems to have become more serious. When the ESP failure occurs the car also turns the engine off. This happened three times yesterday on our way to the ferry. The engine won't start again before the car is stopped and I have to attempt to start it a few times. It seems to me that the engine does not get fuel - otherwise I don't understand how it can turn off when driving. A pretty uncomfortable situation with 3 weeks of driving in front of us. Any ideas?

It really needs to go on Planet and have the codes read. Fortunately, unless you've gone doolally and run her beyond 60k miles already, its under warranty and the dealer can scratch their heads over it.

I have a very similar problem right now. I had the ABS / ESP faults coming up occasionally for a few months. But this Monday the engine stopped on the road. Since then the car starts every time, but it runs for about 5 seconds and then turns the engine off.

I had PP2000 connected, it showed these intermittent faults:
ABS ECU Intermittent fault. ABS rear right sensor fault
ENGINE ECU Intermittent fault. Multiplexing No communication with the ABS *
ENGINE ECU Intermittent fault. Starting and switching off of the engine controlled Starting or switch-off request absent or not valid.

I've cleared all the faults and the only one that came up again was the ABS fault. So I've replaced the ABS sensor and cleared all the faults, but the ABS fault came up again and most importantly the main problem wasn't solved, the car is still turning the engine off in 5 secs after each start. Maybe someone of you guys had a similar problem? I'd really appreciate if anyone could help with this matter.
