I understand that the 3008 and some other models does not have an engine undertray in the engine compartment. All the cars I have driven do have an undertray as some form of protection. Is that the same in your 3008? Is an engine undertray needed?

My 308 has too. It's all part of noise reduction and fuel economy.

The CD (coefficient of drag) is fundamental in design these days and the tray enables reduced drag......but if you like to do an intermediate oil change it's a pita.

I know, I wonder why they don't put a small access hatch in the undertray under the sump plug like other manufacturers.
Malcolm.
My previous VW Passat did not have this and I always wondered why this was the case. Hmm.. I wonder if it would be relatively easy to make such a hatch yourself?
