Hello all, new member, I have two peugeot 207s one with a blown head gasket and clutch gone in the car I drive and another that I use for spare parts that I bought crashed.

Wondering if anyone has changed the engines in these before and knows if the newer type 1.4hdi engine/gearbox with work with the older type 1.4hdi car.

If so what all will have to be transplanted I'm assuming everything, ecu, loom/harness, immobilizer etc. Or if I could just use my existing loom as there seems to be slight differences
ie, dpf sensors not on the older car, fuel filter location among other things.

It would mean a great deal to me if anyone could shed some light on this.
Thanks, Matthew.

2007 and 2011 are different versions the BSI etc will have different plugs the engine itself may well swap over though but not the ecu bsi or wiring just swap the core engine and use your own parts where needed and you should be fine.

What makes you think gasket is blown its not a common issue on these.

Thanks for the reply, well using nearly as much oil as diesel and coolant milky, didn't believe it either car only has 130k miles, thankfully I got the other engine out literally 20 minutes ago (it only has 80k on it) and somewhat glad I don't have to mess around with the body harness on the other car. So this is good news that I just swap parts on the two engine/ gearbox setups.

Bad news is its probably NOT the head gasket your oil cooler was causing the issue <img src="http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Smile" class="inlineimg" />
It is also leaking yes, however 100% the head gasket is also blown. Will update with pictures soon. Thanks for the help so far.

Oil coolers are the cause of coolant mixing not head gasket on a diesel head gasket blows BETWEEN cylinders or pressurises the coolant it does not mix oil and water only the cooler will do this i have never seen a gasket fail on this engine and cause oil and water to mix but i have changed lots of oil coolers !

I have never actually had a failed gasket on a 1.6 hdi even on 400k mile engines it would only ever fail if you overheated it modern metal gaskets rarely fail.
