Hi everyone, new to this forum not new to vehicle mechanics. Apologies if this is the wrong forum. Basically the wife's 207 cc 1.6 petrol threw up a warning engine overheating stop, temp guage shot up to max and rad fan went to max. I checked everything over and the cooling system is working as it should. Plugged scan tool into car and the temp readout was normal 88 to 90 degrees. There are no fault codes but the scan does say coolant sensor short to earth and coolant sensor signal co hearance. I've replaced the sensor but still the same even when engine is stone cold. Wiring all looks good with no signs of decay. Any advice would be greatly welcome thanks in advance. Mjt1.

have you pulled all the main plugs from the ecu and fusebox, checked close and sprayed?

the problem is coolant under pressure works its way through the bad sensor and up the wires, you may need pp2000 or simular to clear it.
