Hi Guys,

Got a 2008 Peugeot 308 Sport 1.6 VTi. Switched the ignition on tonight and got the 'Oil --' flashing on the odometer. Have checked the oil and it is fine. Seen in the service book it is an oil sensor error?

I'm guessing this is purely the sensor to check oil levels and I'm fine to ignore it and check manually? Also, is it a difficult (expensive) fix?

Many thanks in advance

There may be a BSI software update for this. Alternatively make sure the oil level is not too high also.

Thanks. Oil was half way between min and max so should be fine.

Is the software update going to cost me to get done as it is not in warranty?

Thanks.

But is it something that is desperate to be done providing I check the oil regularly myself or can it wait?
No, it doesnt need doing at all. Until recently most cars just had a dipstick and managed just fine.

My new 308 just says something pithy like "oil ok" where my 307 used to show a number of sticks as to how full it was something like ----- that.

I still check mine with the dipstick once a month regardless.
