l have a Peugeot Partner 2018, with 900 Km on the clock. and the emissions control light came on for the third time. The van drives perfectly normally. The dealer said that the computer returns an error on the catalytic converter, even though most probably it's not the cat itself but the sensor, and at any rate they will change the whole component.

Is that normal behaviour for such a new vehicle?

I'd say No, but while a part can fail at any time, parts typically fail most frequently either early or late (in their expected lifetime), less frequently in the middle - see ''bathtub curve'.

For the first three weeks I had my car when new, it spent two of them back at the dealer trying to fix a 'Anti-pollution Fault' and the car going down into limp mode. First try got me ~8km, second one only 800m... had me considering what I'd done, buying a Peugeot. Then they finally found the culprit, not a faulty component as such, but a connector pin in a plug not fully seated/locked in to the plug. Been fine for the 14 years since.
