Hi all!

I have a 308 SW 2.0 diesel automatic from 2016. The car shows two issues that I don't know yet how to solve:

- the main problem occurs from many months. Sometime when opening the car, automatic mirrors don't open and when turning the ignition on, the warning 'battery charge fault' is shown, together with a fixed 'service' message. When this happens, it is not possible to start the car. Turning off and on the ignition various times (sometime this is not needed, sometimes it is needed many times), at some point finally the mirrors open, the warning disappears and the car turns on. Once it turns on, the 'service' message in the dashboard remains, but it disappears once low beam lights are switched on (either manually by me or automatically). Car runs without any problems once it turns on. I brought the 308 to my usual mechanic and also to a car electrician, put a new Varta battery, alternator is fine and they did not see any other issue (the issue itself didn't happen when they had the car). This issue happens randomly, it may not happen for a few days, or happen multiple times in a same day. Electrician said the car is fine and not to worry, but this issue is annoying as I may be stuck not being able to turn the engine on. I read a BSI reset may help but I didn't try it yet, not sure if mechanic or electrician did it.

- about the second thing, I noticed it only recently (also because before changing the battery, start & stop was not working because of too low level of the old battery). When the car is in stop mode, gear in D position, there is a fast and continuous clicking noise in the engine bay. When moving the gear to N position (the stop mode remaining active), the noise disappears. I can't notice if the noise goes on when the engine is turned on, but I think no.

Has anyone of you had any of these issues? Any suggestions? I think I will bring the car to a Peugeot service in few weeks.

Thank you! :)

What do you mean with "so I p/x car"? Sorry 😄

Anyway guys thank you very much for your answers. Yes I think the new battery that was fitted is correct.
I actually already came across the BPGA topic, and it may be the issue also in my case. I'll have holidays soon (not using the car), so I can check it from end of September and I'll update the situation here. Thank you.

Probably a faulty relay in the BPGA, see this thread for more information :-

Hi all, just want to update you after some time. It seems the issue was indeed the BPGA, as many wrote in this forum.
After holidays I brought the car to a recommended electrician. He kept the car for 2 weeks, he had the issue only once, and it disappeared immediately so the system was showing no errors. He didn't want to change the BPGA at this point, because he wanted first to have some info from the computer. So I took the car and after a few days the problem started again. It became even harder to turn on, twice I had to switch the ignition on and off 50/60 times before being able to turn the car on.
Exactly the day when I brought the 308 back to him, the disappearing 'battery charge fault' warning transformed into a permanent 'Electrical circuit system: Have the vehicle repaired'. The service light was also permanently on. At this point, the electrician checked the car again and got a confirmation from the errors that there was a faulty BPGA. So he changed it, and so far the car works fine 🤞🤞🤞... Also the clicking noise during Stop&Start seems to have disappeared, and he said it was indeed the noise from a faulty relay.
