ECU testing or BBA reman. Its often cheaper to do a ECU and BSI swap

How does that work

You buy a secondhand ECU, BSI and key from a wrecker [must all be from the same car] and swap the BSI and ECU into your car and swap the internals of the key and off you go..

One thing.. if the new BSI/ECU has a higher mileage recorded on them, your dash will reset itself to the higher mileage, just be aware of that.

What's the problem with the ECU? Before going to the trouble of repairing/replacing your control unit, it's best to make sure 100% that it's defective. I've seen a couple of instances recently where mechanics have said the BSI or ECU is faulty, it can be used as a bit of a get out clause if someone is unsure of the fault.

Why? Key electronics are easy to swap out.
