Is it possible to install an ECU+BSI from a 407 HDI 2.0 manual 6 speeds right hand drive car on a left hand drive car ? The BSI is on the left in both versions, and should fit, right?

Does the RHD odometer physically fit on the left side?
Will it be compatible with my engine as long as the HW version/ref of the ECU is the same? Or should the SW version be exactly the same as well? I'm guessing RHD have different SW versions from LHD for mph display, but shouldn't it work the same if you change ECU+BSI+Odometer ?

Mine's a Siemens SID803 and seems to have buggered out as the car shuts off when fully warmed up, there are no other faults listed besides the ECU itself and a spike in fuel pressure.
FAP was previously eliminated. Had a short circuit that would drain the battery down in a couple of hours and 4 months after fixing that the car loses power after turning on and driving 100 metres, black smelly soot and no power going to the wheels, would restart heavy smoke on acceleration and shutdown when trying to lift the clutch pedal.
Injectors repaired, one replaced, but then this problem of shutting down when warmed up for cruising appeared.

The spike in fuel pressure will shut down the car if over the max rail pressure.

BSI's are not handed they are only fixed to certain trim and equipment levels. BSI configuration settings can be changed with Diagbox or similar from left to right hand drive and body styles (eg rear wiper on a hatchback but not saloon)

Thanks. If a known good ECU/BSI doesn't fix this I suspect some wire got cooked and somehow workshop missed it.

A case of erratic fuel pressure readings:
can't post link, google for 2.0 HDi woes singletrack forum to find this post:

[...] this problem showed up as very erratic fuel pressure readings which I knew were not the actual readings of the rail I suspected a wiring issue either corrosion or arcing of the fuel rail pressure wiring wiggling the wires with the car running showed the fault .rail pressure sensor sits under fuel rail with a 3 wire connector this is hard to unclip!this wire is a short patch wire and is next joined about 6" straight down clipped just above the sump unclip this as well remove wirng harness and inspect it hopefully you will find the insulation of the wiring has rubbed through and intermittently shorting on starter motor.

I doubt very much its the ecu something is causing the fuel spikes and this is why it cuts out as you have already been told.

To answer your real question though yes a ecu set from a RHD car will fit a LHD car but some settings would need altered with planet window controls for example.

Thanks. So RHD ECU/BSI are cool if properly setup. I guess I don't have to put in the RHD odometer (stated in miles) and the ECU from RHD (miles logging instead of km?) will be ok with the LHD odometer ? I've read the system will assume the higher mileage recorded in the individual parts.

This is a 2004 Peugeot 407 HDi 2.0 with just over 400k km (250k miles) [insert junkyard punchline]. In spite telling me they tested the car with a peugeot specialist (probably someone with Planet) and logging the fuel spike, the garage mechanic says they've excluded every other fault and ECU/BSI is the remaining one. I guess he means they have tested the common rail and fuel pressure sensor and hopefully cabling too.
On my search for a replacement ECU I've been in contact with him and when I was about to purchase one (turned out to be a delphi) he told me to wait as he had one last item to check, something about a sensor that had been refitted but he wasn't sure if they had properly VIN coded it. I'd like to know which parts/sensors are VIN coded on this car besides the ECU and BSI !?

But this failed and he reconfirmed we needed a new set of ECU+BSI+electronic keys+key antenna and odometer (to avoid mileage log conflict).

When I had the short circuit/lack of grounding problem, 4 months before the injectors failed I had to jump the car battery a couple of times, that's the only chance I see of damaging the ECU that usually outlives the car it's attached to.

Sounds like your guy is not sure about his diagnosis no sensors need vin coded

He is correct to be unsure as i think he is wrong too :)

The ecu is the default part to blame when people cant find the real fault.

Yeah, the ECU gets the blame for things hard to troubleshoot, one of the guys with an ECU to sell bought it because of his car not starting even after swapping other parts including the crankshaft sensor. Replacement ECU fitted and problem persists.
He says it turned out to be the magnetized disk from where the crankshaft sensor makes the readings.

I'm willing to test a new ECU if I can get one with working remotes for less than what a new coded remote costs at a dealer, mine are so FUBAR that even the microswitches have come off. The 2004 models came with the auto dissassembly keys that will literally turn to pieces in your hand :lol:

I can fix your keys

You need to check wiring to high pressure sensor and check the sensor on common rail

What is live data readings for fuel pressure and at what rpm

Thanks for the offer Trustme, might take you up, one key at a time by mail, if the garage manages to fix it without "new" ECU/BSI.

I only know what the mechanic tells me and he doesn't have Planet, he had someone come in to do that diagnostic.
