Good Morning,
I have a 2020 e-208 GT Line since around April, not many miles on the clock, 13k when purchased and now around 17k, It is used for commuting mostly and is used most days.
On a usual weekday, returned home from work, car on the drive, not charging as it had plenty of juice for another few days (around 165 miles or so), the next morning I went to start it, but it would not start, instead a red error message "Electric Traction System Fault".
Called out the RAC and had a google of the issue. Something to do with the 12v battery came up, so I tried disconnecting it for around 30 seconds or so and booting the car back up.
No red error message.
However the car only boots into the ignition phase, so push down the brake pedal and try the button once more, and now an orange warning, stating the car won't charge while the charging cable is connected, Cable isn't connected and hasn't been since the night before. (FYI I have a 7Kw at home charging point).
RAC arrive, try the battery disconnect again, shrug their shoulders and leave.
Had a nightmare getting it booked in anywhere, Peugeot can't see it until the end of the month and a local garage will have a crack at the end of the week.
I had a small idea this morning, from my IT days, about disconnecting the battery and cycling the power, something about dissipating any residual electricity from the system, So I tried that.
IT WORKS, well, it turns on to "ready" goes into gear, e-brake comes off, but the accelerator does nothing, I pushed the car into the space where the charging cable can reach (Also have a 508 PHEV that normally sits there when the e-208 isn't charging), and plug it in, you never know.
I've now left the car charging for around an hour, I come back, unplug it, turn it on, and now it is working as if nothing was ever wrong, took it for a spin around the block, turned it off and on numerous times without issue.
My question is, should I be worried? Is this a false sense of security that there was some issue with the 12v battery as other's have found?
I have checked the Gov recalls site and it isn't showing as having any recall issue. Would a new 12v Battery be a good idea?
I've still got RAC coming tomorrow to tow it to the garage and drop off a hire car at the weekend (when both of us are working and need a car) - I'm minded to cancel it and save any diagnostic fee, as it's not likely to show anything if it's running is it?
Anyone else know any more about this?
