Does it look the same as yours?
Is yours a 16v twin cam ?
Is it off the same type of engine?

All you've told us about your car is that it's 110bhp!
Ha ha sorry - put that info in other thread! The car is a 2005 407 SW estate, 1.6 Hdi. Is there more than one type of engine that goes in those?

It shall not be purchased separately. Camshaft bearings races are machined after this cap is torqued down to the main part of the cylinder head.

Hence fitting a different one may lock up your camshafts completely.

Either get a complete replacement head, or take the existing one off and get the hole/crack welded if its possible.

So it goes in tomorrow to get cylinder head replaced...
Meanwhile the bloody aux belt has come off thanks to getting covered in oil...
Should be okay driving it 7 miles to the garage without air con and power steering...

Don't think its driveable without the power steering :nono: try turning the steering when switched off, it wont get any easier than that PLUS if you have a crash your insurance will be void !!!

;) It didn't fall off in the driveway...
Had to drive the bloody thing nearly six miles home when the belt fell off. Belt is still in one piece, but the oil all over it has not done it any good at all. Needs a new aux belt, which I will get tomorrow, but no point if oil leak not fixed, and I can't get that fixed unless it goes to garage. I'm caught between a rock and a hard place here but don't really have a choice...

Thanks bud - it is mostly a straight road along the A35 - turning round outside the house and getting out of the street will be the toughest bit!
