Hi all

I'm very confused. I thought PP2000 was downloadable for free? I've found a link which will let me download an update (v8.18) but when I run it it appears to be looking for v7.76 so that it can upload it to 7.82.

I can't find a free link for the base v7.76.

Is it free or not?

I'm hoping to borrow a Lexia3 interface cable which is why I haven't bough a whole kit from ebay (yet)

There are free download sources, but if they're safe or trustworthy is up for debate.

I can't reply to your PM as I've not got 20 posts.

The answer though is please, but I'll wait until I know if I can borrow a Lexia cable otherwise I may as well buy the whole kit which I'd imagine would include CDs.

I wouldn't trust free downloads. You can either purchased the kit yourself which should come with the required disks or you can look on the planet map to see if there is a member near you.

Downloading it is pointless it needs the adapter to work and the adapter comes WITH the software !

I wouldn't trust free downloads. You can either purchased the kit yourself which should come with the required disks or you can look on the planet map to see if there is a member near you.

I think he means downloading from filesharing sites etc. You can't be anywhere near certain that a link is safe to open and download from.

And there are no guarantees about a hard disk with PP2000/Diagbox being safe.

Actually planet is bootleg software quite what makes you think its freeware im not sure !!

I believe it is actually of bosch origin doubt bosch would happily give things away free !

PP 2000 is freeware.
It might have been bootleg in the last century, I dont know.
since the software is useless without the PSA interface, might be the reason it's freeware I cant tell.
It can be downloaded from several so called trusted sights.

IF it was freeware as you say we would be able to access peugeots servers and do updates to the software as well as download updates to our ECUs

WE CANNOT do that as we should not have the software OR the hardware

freely available is not the same as free !

Being able to access the PSA server has nothing to do with the software being freeware.

Why does peugeots servers switch off adapters when you do try to connect ?

PP2000, Lexia and Diagbox are all proprietry software packages which legally are only available and licenced to official PSA dealers or authorised repair centres.

Yes these software packages have been made available for free downloads but that in itself does not qualify them as freeware, just like the free downloads of MS office, Photoshop, Windows operating systems and any other commercial software that is sold makes them freeware.

You really need to understand the differences between the different types of software available before making statements about them.

Look if you think it's free go into Peugeot dealers and ask them for a copy . Like people are saying just because you can download a copy doesn't mean it's free . It is still a illegal copy you can not run updates

Just to educate you, a keygen AKA Key Generator is used to generate a key to licence a software product. A genuine free software would come with a licence key so negating the requirement of a keygen.

Good luck with trying to get support for any software you install using a keygen.

But hey - if you enjoy walking around with your head in the clouds and no sense in your head well - enjoy your easter. Who knows, maybe the bunnies will lay some choccy eggs for you that won't rot your teeth requiring a visit from their pal the tooth fairy.
