I got my 207 back in December it’s been working perfectly until the past couple of days been smelling a rotten eggy smell for around a 20 second period every so often as I know little about cars I googled it and it come up with the catalytic converters could be bad or on the way out etc, anyone got any advise or had any experiences with this please? I’ve got a 1.4 diesel Verve HDI

Most likely. Its easy to find on the car so look for signs of deterioration.

What year is your car and is it the original?

CATS2U is a good cheap supplier of replacements.

Hydrogen sulphide, which is what smells like rotten eggs, is normally a symptom of a petrol catalytic converter gone bad. However you can get similar smells from a diesel. Might be worth checking it out with a diesel specialist to make sure you treat the cause rather than the symptom.
