I have a Peugeot 207 Petrol (2007).
With the Takata problems affecting other vehicle manufactures, I wondered if Peugeot airbags have a 'safe-use' lifespan?

Are my 13 year old airbags still safe - ie. if they were to deploy, woudl that happen safely or do they degrade / becmome a danger over time?

thanks

I remember there was an article a good few years ago of PSA Peugeot / Citroën testing older / aged airbags & then stating they where good for at least 15 years.
Autoliv was the airbag manufacturer at the time PSA used.
I can't currently find the link to the article.

As for the airbag in your vehicle it would depend on the maker.

Looking on Ebay at 207 drivers airbags it seems ( by the couple of examples I looked at ) there also made by Autoliv.

Initially airbags had a 10 or 15 year life limit. As they spent more time in service, they found that they last much, much longer. Nowadays they don't really expire but rather last for the life if the vehicle. Plus you can't be sure you'll find a newly manufactured airbag after 20 years.
