Went to change the oil this evening, and when I took the dipstick out to check the oil level, the bottom part (below Max point) of the dipstick was missing. At the minute I'm presuming it's in the sump pan. Is it possible to run the engine like this? Or am I risking major damage.

Any quick help would be appreciated as I'm meant to be off rallying tomorrow and I'm grounded without the car :D

I'm inclined to believe you risk MAJOR damage. That thing can get lodged in multiple places that can cause serious and expensive damage.

You should be fine it's a common thing on some models the plastic end it too large to be passed through the oil pump strainer I took a sump off a 1.6 hdi and found two dipstick ends in the bottom
