hello all, can someone tell me how to test the relay for the dipped beams ? I'm seeing 2v at the dipped bulbs (which dont illuminate) but all other lights work fine.

I still have the green dash light and no warning shown, the column stalk still switches although a colleague commented that the green dash light was quite dim.

No obvious earth faults or corrosion and its the same voltage both sides at the bulb . I suspect the relay. Is it in the under-bonnet fusebox ? How feasible is it for me to replace it ?

thanks

I'm looking at the layout of the engine fusebox BM34 for an 807 so may be talking rubbish. F9 & F10 feed the dipped beam bulbs on either side. These fuses are fed from built in relay R5 on the board. The coil on the relay R5 is controlled by the CAN wiring from the BSI. I'd check the earths on the chassis leg are secure. Also do the headlamp adjusters work from the switch in the car as they are on the same feed as the dipped beam? May be possible to replace the built in relay but easier maybe to buy a replacement fusebox as not coded. Check water has not got in.

I agree the fusebox is best replaced as although it is probably possible to replace the relay you need to dismantle the fusebox first !

thanks - so I'm right about where the relay is anyway. The replacement part according to GSF is 935PC0230
he said to ignore the title as the sam erelay is used for a few things.

here is a picture of my fusebox.

htt ps://1drv.ms/f/s!AtLmuonyj7Txxx9yvTi00kGPIQpm (fix the link)

the two blue 15a fuse in the middle control the left and right dipped. Seeing 2v there.

I'm puzzled though why only the dipped beams are not working.

Could someone please explain the point about the beam adjustment ? I cant see any beam so are you suggesting I listen out for the adjustment happening?

Update: I can hear the beam adjustments moving

That type of relay is for older cars

cars from 2001 on do not have these except in the fan control box headlight relays are as already said INSIDE the fusebox

If the beam adjuster motors inside the headlamps are working this suggests the dipped beam relay is working, but your car may be wired up differently to the diagram I have. Check the bulb connectors, give them a wiggle with the headlamps switched on, it may be a poor connection somewhere.

When I was driving I could hear the driving lamp switch triggering a relay in the glovebox area -there is a fuse box there also

Again the relays are INSIDE the BSI this is what the internal fusebox is called

All modern peugeots have non replaceable relays in the fuseboxes

I didn?t know that, thank you.
So a fuse box purchased will come with all the relays built in ?

Got there at last yes if you need a relay you must replace the whole unit so its best to be sure your diagnosis is correct.

The fusebox internal relays do go bad sometimes but i would figure out the wires for the headlights at the fusebox plug and check they are powering up or not as the case may be as a fusebox can cost £50 or so used !

Thank you everyone - I?ve learned a lot here
Idiocy moment - there was no fault, a complete plank said my dipped beams were out but they were mistaking the directional bulbs for the dipped beams
