I've got a 1.4 lx 2000 206 which used to have 17" on it. I know they can kill the car but they where bought with them on the car and I havent managed to get hold of some wheels until now.

I have had no noises with the car until i put new ones on which where 15" but these where the wrong wheels so now i have standard 14" that came right of a scrapped peugeot 206. the noise is made when im cruising in gear, but when im in neutral or the clutch pedal is down the noise goes. its a noise like if you put a playing card against the spokes of a pushbike.

The most confusing thing about this is that it hadnt made the noise until the wheels where changed so will something just need adjusting?

sounds like a clutch/flywheel problem if it dissappears when you press the pedal.

because you are using different sized wheels you may need to reprogram in planet...i know with the 307 and the focus, use different sized wheels and you begin to get incorrect speed measurements...i think the 206 takes its speed from the gearbox.

edit: does it sound like a penny in a slow washing machine? like ting, ting, ting ting...if so thats your release bearing, be prepared for clutch failure.

hmmm....dont say it was MR. clutch autocentre....they are as about as much use as tits on a fish.

i can remember my 307, when i was stopped i could hear a ting ting ting noise. like a penny in a washing machine.

a few miles/days later on the way home the clutch release bearing packed in.

Yeah it was... Seemed like a good idea at the time now im regretting ever getting the car.. all ive had is problems with it but hey, that's life. i've got a video but you cant hear the sound that much. its the sort of purring. I'm sure you'll recognise it after a while...

Damn car... - YouTube

The noise is only made when im slowing down and in gear thats what confuses me.. when im coasting or accelerating there's no noise what so ever...
