I could smell diesel so lifted the seat removed the cover and found a tablespoon of diesel sitting in the black grove which runs around the yellow cap onto of the fuel tank.
(See picture)
I cleaned it all up with a rag the drove 250 miles checked it again and it was all dry still.
I've just checked it again and another tablespoon of diesel has leaked.

Been reading on the forum that diesel fuel leak could be caused by overfilling.
I do a lot of miles each week so i like to fill it up to the brim and run it till empty.

Will try keeping the fuel under half a tank for a few weeks the get the garage to have a look under warranty.

Anyone had a similar issue.

I've had a similar problem (not with this car but a Vauxhall Astra D) in that the top of the fuel tank where the lift pump and sender unit are located, it was wet and failed the MOT because of it.
It turned out to be the expansion pipe which comes off the top of the fuel tank and up to the top of the filler neck, this was cracked where it joins the top of the tank pump.
I had to lower the tank down to find out the cracked pipe, as not visible from above and cut the pipe and reconnect it, job done MOT passed.
