Ok, get this message & graphic as soon as the car starts-every time. Done several long runs & let it rev for a few minutes in a high gear hoping to force a regen but no difference. The car runs ok though.
Had it at local dealers who suspected EGR valve but I`ll be damned if I`m paying £500 for a `suspected faulty valve`
I`ve blanked off the EGR valve on previuos cars but can we do it on the 308 1.6hdi without any issues? What about unplugging the electrical connection or deactivating it in the car`s system?
Thanks in advance....

There are many components involved in the regeneration process - glow plugs, plug relay, cooling fan, and so on. You need to make sure all these are working.

And the method you've tried to regen is incorrect. It needs to be at least 3000rpm for 15 minutes. Any drop below 3000 and it cancels.

find out what criteria the car needs for a regen, temp etc. Had a Vectra that would not regen, garage failed to find problem, I later found that the thermostat had gone.

OK, got the local garage to renew the EGR valve & the flat spots on low revs were cured but still had the message.....

Then I had the cooling fans on continuos even with the key out until it flattened the battery. Breakdown van jumped started it, fan still on continuos for 10 minutes then all quiet. Took it for a brisk run to charge the battery & car was driving very perky, but meassge still on...

Sent it to dealer who removed & powerwashed the DPF but the car wouldn`t regenerate even though filter was 0% blocked. Further diagnostics found the Cooling fan resistor pack faulty, probably caused by the additive ECU failing to inject the additive so they reckon the car had been trying to regenerate & caused itself a mischeif... at least they gave me a coutesy car for free while we wait for succesive parts to arrive & be fitted & they had decent brew machines with festive mince pies & threw in a model Pug 308SW for the youngest offspring lol!

Apparently the additive tank holds 3 litres & the dealer said ours had 1.6 litres in it so I assume this will last us a while then?
