Depollution fault-P11a8-help

Hi all, I am new to the forum and was wondering if any one can help. I recently purchased a Peugeot 207 cc 1.6vti sport and according to Diagbox which is a brilliant piece of kit by the way, it has error code P11a8 and Depollution fault and no power after 2 minutes of driving, also the engine gets throaty like it has a k+n, the car has already had it's chain done last year by the previous owner and I have done the vanos solenoids, thermostat housing, oil and filter. Its a lovely car but I am now at a loss of how to repair this annoying fault. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jase.

P11a8? You sure? Diagbox will give a description of the fault and possible causes also. Go to the fault and click on the + on the lhs to expand the fault drop down.
Have you done live readings before the issue occurs and after?
Hi its, P11A8 Exhaust camshaft dephasing fault.

P11A8Exhaust camshaft dephasing fault
Properties From : Local Status : Permanent fault Fault characterisation : Coherence

List of associated variables Engine speed 2161 rpm Engine coolant temperature 66 °C Vehicle speed 44 Kph Richness regulation status Open loop (special driving conditions) Calculated charging value (filling) 15 % Quick richness correction (row 1) 0 % Slow richness correction (row 1) -1 %
There was a recent discussion of this issue on the forum somewhere, something to do with the pulley being faulty and needing replacement? Looking for it at the moment...
Coherence basically means the signals the ecu is seeing are not within its expected range so it shuts down for safety to avoid engine damage.

I would check the timing again and the solenoid/wiring.
Thanks, I will double check the work done so far..:thumb:
exhaust camshaft and crankshaft incoherence

Hi again, just an update live data has revealed an "exhaust camshaft and crankshaft incoherence", could this be the exhaust cam sensor? Also when the car looses power there is a noise like chain slap when backing off the accelerator, I am now thinking weak tensioner as the previous owners invoice only shows that the timing chain was changed last august. Again any advice greatly appreciated :thumb:
Diagbox will usually list a faulty sensor so I would be checking for other issues first. Incoherence means the shafts are running out of the sync envelope expected by the ECU, which also suggests that the sensors are working as they are reading and reporting the mis-alignment. You could quickly check by swapping the inlet/exhaust sensors and see if the fault switches cams though.

I doubt if worn chain guides/tensioner/chain would allow the camshaft to be far enough out of alignment to trigger this fault. If it was that sloppy, I am sure you would hear it all the time. However, were the camshafts properly aligned when the chain was replaced?

Reading the other thread I listed suggests that blocked filters on the oil feed to the camshaft solenoids are an issue that needs checking.

Does Diagbox live data not report on the alignment of camshafts/crankshafts for any given engine load? Would be surprised if it didn't..

I have never worked on your type of motor so am basing my advice on past experience with other motors of similar nature BTW...

My VTI makes a similar noise when backing off on the throttle and is in limp home mode, but only when in limp home mode. Turn the engine off and re-start it and it usually disappears.
Smarty did you ever get to the bottom of this ? I have exactly the same issues
