Just had a run in with the dealer on this.

It's always been like this since I bought it at about 15 months old.

Radio on DAB, select reverse gear and radio cuts. Doesn't do it on FM or music from any source.

I've tried it with the tailgate open to see if either the camera or reversing lights affect it - no. Disable the parking sensors has no effect either.

So sit in car, ignition on, but engine not running (to test). DAB radio playing, select reverse gear and radio cuts. Also the little signal strength indicator shrinks to nothing.

Could others try this to see if it happens on their car?

Dealer says "they all do that" it's designed to cut the radio when reverse is selected so that you can hear the beeps from the parking sensors. But only on DAB?? Anyway, the beeps do mute the radio or music, but only while they are sounding.

I've compared it to my daughter's 2008 which has the SMEG digital radio, and it doesn't happen on that.

On our 308 it cuts out when the reverse sensors detect something. However it affects audio from any source so I would suggest that the question is not why does it cut out but why doesn't it cut out for all audio sources!

Mine does cut out for the beeps from the detectors on any source, as it should. I have front detectors too.
But with DAB it cuts completely when reverse is selected.

When simply reversing the radio still plays from a DAB source.

So, it looks like there is a fault with yours. I'm not completely au-fait with updates to the radio firmware (ours is latest but one as a new head unit was fitted earlier this year) but I would think that would be the first place to investigate.

Mine has the latest firmware too, but it had no effect. Thanks for letting me know.

I'm convinced that for some reason the signal from the aerial is reducing for some reason. If I happen to be somewhere with a very strong DAB signal, it only drops out momentarily, but normally it drops out completely. It can also take some time to retune and get the station back.

There is supposed to be a feature where if the DAB reception goes, the radio automatically returns to FM, but that's certainly not happening.

I did try fitting a longer whip aerial, cut to 65cm which is half wave for the DAB BBC Mux. This does improve the situation but not a cure.

Dealer is now saying they checked other cars and it is a standard feature. I know they did not check any other cars.

Peugeot Customer care admit Peugeot UK do not employ anyone with any detailed knowledge of their product, they always rely on "trained" technicians at the franchised dealers. They also seem to be admitting that they know some dealers are better than others.
