I'd be tempted to say a wiring issue, possibly something on the steering is knocking a loose earth strap. Bit of a shot in the dark though.

Getting the car diagnosed may shed some light if it brings up an intermittent fault showing a short circuit or similar.

Does it happen when it's a long sweeping right hand bend, or just short sharp rights like at junctions?

Could be fuel related, but again it's hard to say without any live data or codes.

It got took to the Pug specialist in Sheffield and they found the fault, it turned out to be the engine wiring loom that was knackered !! Some of the wires were broken and were arcing out on the engine. Was a big hit on the pockets as you can expect from the pug dealers but at least it now fixed. They removed the loom, repaired the wiring and put the loom back in. Thanks for the replies.
