Cooling fan

Hi Redsector,

I have a 2013 508 here in Perth and with summer looming, my wife mentioned that the engine oil temp was up slightly from normal, but the coolant temp was moving around a lot. There are no codes and Peogeot said there are no faults showing but something has changed.
When she pulled in the other day, I lifted the bonnet, I noted that the engine bay was way warmer than normal but more interesting was that the cooling fan wasn't working. I asked if it was warm and she said yes but didn't climb over 92. It never used to get warmer than 88. So on a real warm day, wife used a/c which she noted that the temp dropped. Looking under the bonnet, the fan was working but stopped when a/c was turned off.
So, if the cooling fan works under a/c, would the control module likely be at fault. Still no fault codes showing?

Anybody ??

Cheers

Hi Redsector,

Thanks for the information, I don't think I'll be able to diagnose without a scan tool. Any thoughts on reasonable scan tool for this model?
The fact that the fan works with A/c leads me to think thermo stat too. Do you know where this is located on the engine?

Cheers

A bottom cut open 1.25 litre bottle should work in the bleed procedure, may need a few other tweaks.

Thanks again for the diagrams. I dont think it would be the thermostat as engine temps get up to 88deg quickly then no hotter which would indicate the thermostat is opening. Can you tell if the cooling fan relay is guided by the same engine temperature sender as the instrument gauge? If so, then I would say that the problem leads to the fan relay guessing the engine temp determines high or low speed fan??

Dunno....just guessing
