Hi all
Apart from a blown head gasket, is there any thing else that can cause pressure in the coolant expansion tank.
I have noticed a leak from a rubber pipe that joins the bulk head. But this seems to leak only when there is pressure in the system. So is that leaking because the pressure is forcing it to leak, or is that leak causing the pressure and bubbles is the expansion tank/coolant

many thanks

The leaking won't be causing pressure. It's a pressurised system, so there is no way to suck air in.
Bubbles in the expansion tank indicate head gasket failure, but the only sure way to tell is do a compression test.

Is the water level going down at all?

The water level only goes down when it's not running. But I cant see a leak any where. I have just changed the radiator and it does seem a bit better.
I don't see bubbles in the expansion tank, but if I slacken the rad cap, it is like a volcano going off.

get a garage to do a coolant pressure test and also to test for exhaust gases in the coolant , if the coolant has gone darker is another give away

From the what you say, I suspect it could well be the head gasket, although without seeing it, I can't be sure
