In these subzero temperatures my car has taken a few extra cranks to fire up.
My 306 which you had to wait till the timer light went off never did this.
I know new diesels dont have to wait to start but how do the glow plugs warm up first.
I'm thinking it just my glowplugs need replacing, i have no idea when they were last changed.

My diesel takes slightly longer to start in cold weather - so there's nothing wrong with your motor.

Probably something to do with thicker oil and slower cranking in cold weather.

Yeah I have that problem. I don't think it's a fault with the car but just like Clanless says.

But I do have my suspicions that it isn't healthy for the car having to turn over more than usual because of the cold.
