If anyone has a moment to chime in, it'd be really appreciated.

My clutch started squealing so took it to Mr Clutch.

Quoted me £410.77 for new clutch to be fitted, I agreed.

They've called me back now saying, clutch bearing had gone, will replace ok but Dual Mass Flywheel looks worn, it has movement on left and right side. also my gear box oil looks bad so requoted me £820.19

Is this a reasonable price?

Thanks :thumb:

I paid £680 4 years ago at a local independant, so i guess thats not too bad, get them to change rear crankshaft oil seal while there in there.

Gear box oil looks bad !! they NEED to drain it anyway to get the box out were they going to reuse it :)

So they want 400 for a flywheel thats mega expensive there is not really any extra labour if the gearbox is already out !

The cost of parts is small compared to the cost of labour, so if you're having a clutch then you should have a DMF too (and if you're having a DMF then you should have a clutch too).

I paid £750 but was getting quotes over £1200 so you're not that far away considering it's all been sprung on you. You could probably have done better if you'd done your research but given the situation I think you've gotten away relatively lightly -- so put on a brave face and take the pain.

Indeed the gearbox has to be drained anyway because the drive shafts have to come out, so that's a red herring.
