heya , got something `new` today ; sold my 806 petrol and now have a diesel.

all is good except some weirdness today - after driving 50 miles , changing from 4th to 5th on the motorway , there was a clunk and the clutch pedal fell to the floor.

got it to a service station as my first thought was clutch cable , but I could lift the pedal back up under resitance. pumped it a few times and it was fine since.

but im somewhat concerned.... any idea`s what it could be?

This is exactly what happened to me with my diesel 806. It made driving it a bit of a lottery and was no fun. BUT help is at hand. It's a bit Heath Robinson but it is a fix that has worked for the past 10 months and shows no sign of not continuing to work...

The spring sort of turns and pulls instead of resists once the pedal is depressed beyond a certain point. You can sometimes hear/feel a click that indicates it is about to happen. It isn't an issue with the clutch cable.

So you have to make up padding to physically prevent that pedal travelling to that 'snatching' point. I took some folded, cut down microfibre cloth, using duct tape to secure it in position and with a bit of trial and error made it so there's no way that pedal can move further than I want it too. It's not elegant but the padding is under my overmat so doesn't look bad. So that's the simple essence of it; physically prevent the pedal moving too far when you depress it and yet not so much that you can't operate the clutch fully.

Help is here

This is solely down to the clutch cable not pedal
If this happens its the self adjusting pod on the cable.
You'll need to take the cable off and drill out the two plastic rivets to gain access to the self adjuster.
Once apart you will see a rod with flat side and two rollers roll down the outsides and lock when they get tighter.
There will be a tiny indentation on either side of the rod on the flat sides.
You'll need to use a dremmel and carefully grind out the indentations and make it smooth again.
Once done put it back together and replace the rivets with metal ones.
I did this approximately two months ago and all is fine.

I stand corrected then. Seems like a fair amount of work so I'll probably leave it as is until I feel like replacing the cable (I assume new OE cables - I've got a new Peugeot spare one - won't have this issue?)... But thanks for the advice. :)

Re cable

Unfortunately mine was a genuine pug cable prob three years old £28.
Price now £45 on a good deal £60 bad deal.
Best bet is to get a knackered one and have a play.
Sadly I had to buy a rivet gun for £15 otherwise it's a free job.
